A native of Singapore, Nona first started her career as a management consultant in London. After working for over 8 years in management and software consulting, she moved to the Bay Area in 2005. She started the first online meal delivery business back in 2006 before it was trendy, and also created the first food-based detox program in 2010. The Nona Lim brand was launched in 2014, focusing on clean-label, Asian-inspired products and includes a line of fresh bone broths, ramen and rice noodles. The products have won numerous awards both for its clean label in Clean Eating, and Prevention magazines, but also SOFI awards for its flavor and taste. Nona Lim is distributed nationally in Whole Foods, as well as in the conventional and club channels. The company has recently received funding from a number of VCs and is growing rapidly in the grocery and food service channel. While running her business, Nona was also a competitive fencer for many years, representing Singapore. She is also a certified nutrition consultant and is active in both the local community and in the food industry. She was the President of the San Francisco Professional Food Society, and is currently a Board Director of the Specialty Food Association. The company is also WBENC-certified, and was named the SBA Emerging Business in 2016.
