Rawly Bold is WRAP-certified, which is kind of a big deal. WRAP stands for Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production, a nonprofit that provides training, education, and certification in the sewn garment industry. It is imperative to Pamela Delgado, the founder of Rawly Bold, that her company be a force for good in the world.
The F Project: What was the lightbulb moment that made you start your company?
Pamela Delgado: About two years ago I learned I was significantly underpaid in comparison to some colleagues, so I decided to talk to my directors about it. They gave me excuses that did not justify their decision and I then realized that I needed to take my dreams into my own hands.
TFP: What makes you want to jump out of bed every day?
PD: I get to inspire, motivate and empower people for a living. I’d say that’s pretty remarkable. Being able to make an impact to encourage others to pursue their passions despite obstacles that come their way is truly amazing to me. I have to pinch myself pretty often and I have no problem losing sleep over it.
TFP: What about your past career or life experience prepared you for entrepreneurship? What was a total shock?
PD: I have always had an entrepreneurial way about me. I have managed e-commerce before and worked with menswear to fine jewelry. The operations part is all the same, so I’d say I’ve had great training. What’s shocked me has been the lack of time in a day. It’s amazing how much time we invest in our own endeavors.
TFP: What makes your product special/different?
PD: My story and reasons for creating it. We donate funds to organizations and charities that some people protest. We’re all about the greater good and we’re happy to bring awareness to issues that need a resolution.
TFP: What advice do you have for other female founders?
PD: Just start. You don’t need to have your ducks in a row. Your business will evolve and you will learn along the way. Starting is most important.
TFP: Why did you join The F Project?
PD: I believe there’s space for all of us. We are all different and that is our superpower. I am thrilled to lift others up and appreciate the same in return. Growth is inevitable that way and that’s needed to create a better society.
