Nadia was born in Morocco and lived there until she was 17. Her new home of California had some of the same wonderful things that Morocco offers – citrus and almond trees – but was missing another very important element...amlou.
Amlou is a nut butter made from the argan nut. Yes, that’s the same nut that supplies the argan oil that makes your hair soft as butter and shiny as mink. Argan nuts are a rich source of vitamins A and E, along with omega and linoleic fatty acids. The nuts and the oil are true Moroccan superfoods.
After graduating with an MBA from Chapman University, Nadia realized she was poised to start a company. What better product than the one she knew and missed, amlou? She combined argan oil with almond butter, and voila!, a delectable and great-for-you food was available in the US.
Nadia connected the business to her Moroccan roots in other ways too. All the argan oil used in Argania Butters is imported from Moroccan partners who employ and empower about 500 women from six different female-run cooperatives and family farms there. And five percent of the profits from Argania Butters is reinvested in those female-run cooperatives.
Health, beauty, and a better life for women…and a delicious dip. Argania Butters is a win-win-win-win.
