Founder Feature: Kathryn Lukas

A gut shot sounds like something that happens in a bar brawl and sends you to the emergency room. But Kathryn Lukas of Farmhouse Culture can assure you – her gut shots are not only delicious, they’re excellent for your GI and immune systems too!

A real go-getter, Kathryn opened a restaurant in Germany and served as head chef for four years before she completed Bauman College’s Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts Natural Chef Program. She worked for a couple of well-known California restaurants and as a personal chef after returning to the states.

Her time in Germany had kindled a love of fresh sauerkraut, and her personal experience with fermented foods proved remarkable; her overall health flourished as she incorporated fermented foods into her diet.

Kathryn combined her love of travel and food and took seven years to learn firsthand the culture of culturing across the world. She developed some crazy-good recipes for krauts, including Golden Turmeric and Smoked Jalapeno, in addition to perfecting the afore-mentioned Gut Shots. A new addition in the Farmhouse Culture line is Kraut Krisps, a tangy cracker perfect for snacking.
