Two weeks in Bali cured Kailey Donewald of 25 years of asthma and allergies. Was it just the relaxation? Nope. It was an entirely different diet. Turns out, Kailey had been allergic to dairy all her life…and none of the health care providers from whom she’d sought help had ever asked her about what she ate.
That experience was the epiphany that led Kailey in a new direction, personally and professionally. She felt compelled to help others heal through the foods they ate…and shouldn’t eat.
Kailey set about learning as much as she could about the links between health, disease, and nutrition. She studied with experts including Dr. Andrew Weil, director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, director of the Yale-Griffin Prevention Research Center; and Dr. Walter Willett, chair of nutrition at Harvard University.
Armed with that knowledge base, Kailey had a serendipitous moment when she met a couple who had run a vegan gelato company…also in Bali. They had closed the business, but were open to sharing their experience and expertise with Kailey.
The concept of Sacred Serve arose from that fortuitous meeting. Kailey and her partners experimented and came up with a delicious coconut-based, organic, raw, and vegan gelato that is densely creamy and delicious. Sacred Serve packs in superfoods, herbs, and supplements and offers both the satisfaction of a rich dessert and a functional food experience.
It’s been an incredible journey, and Kailey and Sacred Serve are definitely in the sweet spot now.
