“What if you could identify a recurring need in a significant portion of the population, one that could be met by a subscription delivery service?” said shave box companies, grocery services, and even community-supported agriculture farms. And one more voice – that of Jonna Piira, founder of Kali.
Kali’s motto, Bring wellness full cycle, speaks to a couple of aspects of Jonna’s business. Kali is a subscription-based delivery service of personalized care boxes for a woman’s monthly cycle. Great word play!
On the way to its founding, the wellness component really added a distinct direction to Kali’s trajectory. Jonna and her team learned that some very scary components go into 80% of the menstrual care products available in stores. We’re talking chlorine bleach, dioxins, and synthetic fibers, among others. Manufacturers know where tampons go, right? And still, that’s what in most tampons.
Jonna’s interest in providing safer alternatives blossomed like the organic cotton that Kali’s top-selling tampons are made of. She realized that there was a market not just for a subscription service, but particularly for one that delivered safer menstrual product alternatives to women.
In addition to products for period use, Kali provides offerings from revolving partners that include Little Seed Farm, Eboost, Ella Milia, and Hum. These are available in the Kali lux box, a package of extra special care for what’s not everyone’s favorite time of the month.
Kali is a proud supporter of the nonprofit, I Support the Girls, which provides donations of bras, tampons, and maxi pads to homeless women and girls in North America and elsewhere in the world.
