“Eat your fish! It’s good for you.” Growing up in western Pennsylvania, Jacqueline Claudia knew her mom was right, but it was still hard to get excited about the frozen fish topped with cream of celery soup that constituted a seafood dinner on Friday night.
Years later, Jacqueline heads Love the Wild, a frozen fish company that aims to bring fish to more dinner tables across America and save the world while doing it.
Jacqueline worked in analysis and strategy for years before turning her attention back to a childhood fascination: fish. Her research into aquaculture led to her conviction that it’s the planet’s best hope for a sustainable food supply.
There were several avenues Jacqueline could have chosen to approach aquaculture. What she decided on was developing a consumer brand that would increase awareness of and demand for sustainably farmed seafood.
Love the Wild offers several meal kits for the oven and microwaveable bowls as well. The products are sold nationally in outlets such as Target, Whole Foods, Wegmans, and natural food stores.
Love the Wild got a high-profile investor and advisor in Leonardo DiCaprio, who is an ardent supporter of environmental health.
“I know I can’t change the world by myself. Change happens by lots of people working together,” Jacqueline said in a recent interview.
Now Jacqueline and her mom are on the same page. Eat your fish! It’s good for you (and for the world).
