Evolyn had a fast-paced, uber successful career in television production in Los Angeles. It was a dream job in many ways, but it was not where her intuition said she needed to be. Still, it was a great life.
Until it wasn’t. In 2013, Evolyn heard the words that so many women will hear at some point in their lives. Breast cancer put a halt to a lot of the busyness of Evolyn’s life.
It was during her time in treatment that Evolyn returned to a love of making things – in this case, candles and pillows. The focus of creating art gave her mind and spirit room to expand. Once she was through with chemotherapy, Evolyn had decided to change direction in her life.
In My Solitude LA is an extension of Evolyn’s commitment to living with intention. In addition to selling candles, eye masks, and lavender pillow mist, In My Solitude LA offers candle-making workshops in a variety of settings. Reiki and yoga are auxiliary services for these participatory events.
“It’s not just about candles,” Brooks said in an interview with The Santa Monica Daily Press. “It’s about intention and goal setting and moving past obstacles.”
