Founder Feature: Denise Woodard

Kids change so many things in parents’ lives. For several of The F Project founders, their kids were the impetus to seek a new entrepreneurial direction in their lives. Such is the case for Partake Foods’s founder, Denise Woodard.

Denise’s daughter, Vivienne, has several food allergies, making it difficult (and scary!) for Denise to find safe, kid-friendly foods for Vivienne to enjoy at snack time, parties, and play dates. Armed with her experience at various Fortune 100 food manufacturing companies and her desire to provide better options for all kids (and adults) with food allergies, Denise launched Partake Foods in 2016.

With support from the Chobani Food Incubator, Denise has extended the reach of Partake Foods into over 200 stores, including Wegmans and Whole Foods. As of November 2018, Partake Foods had the highest rated vegan cookies on Amazon. Hiring its first full-time employee this year has been a milestone for the company.

Denise wrote an article for LinkedIn about the incredibly intensive, hands-on work of running a small business. In it, she reminds herself to “appreciate every little hiccup or turn in the road – we’ll only be at this stage for a finite amount of time, and when we’re (hopefully!) a larger company with resources, I won’t be able to do these things myself anymore, so I’m making a real effort to enjoy every bit of this crazy journey!”
