Founder Feature: Amanda Johnston & Kellie Shoten

These sisters aren’t just doing it for themselves. They’re bringing vegan, raw, gluten-free, dairy-free, organic, non-GMO salad dressings and sauces to the tables of sisters (and brothers) everywhere.

Amanda Johnston and Kellie Shoten share genes and a passion for good food. They both came to healthier, cleaner eating as adults. Amanda had long experienced dairy sensitivity, and Kellie was troubled by gluten. Their shift to a more restricted palate brought improved health, but they missed some of their favorite foods. They learned quickly that salad dressings almost always contained ingredients that were not part of their eating plans.

With creative experimentation, they developed some go-to dressings that doubled as dips and sauces for their veggie meals. When their non-vegan friends and family clamored for more, Kellie and Amanda knew they were on to something.

kaari’s current line-up of dressings includes creamy verde, creamy Caesar, sesame ginger, herb ranch, and Greek vinaigrette. They’re sold retail in New York and California and online from the company’s website.

Thanks to these sisters, we can do the unheard-of and make our salads even healthier when we add the dressing!
